Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is located in north western part of Uganda at the end of the Albertine Rift Valley. It is Uganda’s oldest and the largest safari park. It is situated 305 kilometer north of Kampala in Masindi district and can be accessed by road and flights. Murchison falls was first gazetted as a wildlife reserve in 1926 and is blessed with over 76 various mammal species and 451 bird species. It bisects the Nile which plunges 45m over the remnant valley wall making it a unique attraction. The mighty cascade drains the last of the river’s energy making it into a stream that flows quietly across the rift valley floor into Lake Albert. Murchison falls is made up of Bugungu, Karuma wildlife reserve and Murchison falls National Park.

The forest is located approximately 112km from Masindi town.

Murchison falls National Park can be enjoyed all year round. The park can be best visited in dry season in the months of December to February and June to September. This dry season force animals to come to water sources to drink water hence making it possible for tourist to spot them while on a game drive.
